Fatal Frame IV Countdown! (For Europe)
30 Nov 2008
Okay.

We now have CONFIRMATION.
THIS IS FOR EUROPE ONLY. There is *NO WORD* as of yet for a US release date. (So don't send me tons of emails asking. :P I do not know ANYTHING yet.)

Official Nintendo Magazine in the UK has been confirmed as advertising Fatal Frame IV: Mask of the Lunar Eclipse (no typo, it's not called Project Zero IV in the article) will be released in February 2009. (It's the 37th issue on page 48.)

(Play.com - linked in the rumor article below - sets the date as February 6th, 2009)

For the record, the publisher *IS* listed as Nintendo.
(Reggie, you may have some explaining to do...)

Special thanks to Yashuu of BCL forums for the first head's up! [ ]

YES! Maybe?...

The following stories are RUMORS and can't be CONFIRMED right now, but it may give the US & European fans some hope.

Rumor #1 - source Gothic Girl on Gamegrep

Gamecyte ran a story on US publisher XSeed, which is trying to get more Japanese games to the US.

A fan (Andrew from Gamespot), wrote into XSeed games. While, the company answered they are not publishing the game...they did confirm the game IS being released to the US (although they could not release the publisher.)

Rumor #2 - source Official Nintendo Magazine (UK) (Yashuu in BCL forums)

(NOT CONFIRMED AS OF YET) Apparently, the latest issue in ONM (in the UK) lists Hot Half Hundred Games Next year, Fatal Frame IV is amongst the games listed with an ETA of February 2009.

Second Source on Rumor #2 (thankyou SeanyBoy) Play.com (UK site) is advertising that Fatal Frame IV: Mask of the Lunar Eclipse to be released on February 6th, 2009.

Edit: To be clear, I am not SURE if ONM has actually published such an article in their UK edition, that is what I am waiting on confirmation on and that is why the above is a rumor at this time. If that *IS* confirmed, then yes, we will have a European release date for Fatal Frame IV. [ ]

Wii Would Like to Play Fatal Frame IV!

For those who have been checking out the forums, there is a campaign that will be started shortly for fans to contact Nintendo & Tecmo and ask for Fatal Frame IV: Mask of the Lunar Eclipse to be released to the United States & Europe. It's called 'Wii would like to play Fatal Frame IV!' (of course for our European fans, the slogan is 'Wii would like to play Project Zero IV!')

What can you do? This week: EMAIL GAME DAILY ABOUT FATAL FRAME IV!

Here is what to do, GameDaily will be interviewing Reggie Fils-Aime, President of Nintendo America about games and other items. Send an email to the editor of gamedaily telling them you want to know about the status of Fatal Frame IV. BE POLITE. Do not threaten, do not say 'I'm never buying Nintendo games/ a Wii/etc again until you release the game'. Be polite, honest, and sincere.

You can even mention how much you love playing the series what you have heard from fans who HAVE played the new game already. Mention how much you're looking forward to it, etc..but most importantly, FIRST THING, make it clear that you are asking Reggie what the status of the game is, AND mention, that both Nintendo and Tecmo have been on record as saying 'ask the other guy about the game'.

Email: editor@gamedaily.com
Subject: Question for Reggie Fils-Aime

Question: Is there anything you can tell us about the release of Fatal Frame IV: Mask of the Lunar Eclipse? Both Tecmo and Nintendo have been telling fans and reporters to 'ask the other company' for news and information. European & US fans are dying to know if they'll become afraid of the dark all over again after playing Fatal Frame IV on the Nintendo Wii anytime soon?

DEADLINE IS NOVEMBER 19TH!!! So get those letters in!!!

Discussion on emailing gamedaily in the forums, check it out!

PS. Thankyou to Nathyz for the head's up!

-------------------------

Other things fans can do:

IGN is also having a similar question & answer session every week with Nintendo of America's Denise Kaigler. Ask her the same question about Fatal Frame IV's status! (Remember to be polite & respectful in your emails!!!)

The email for that is: feedback_wii@ign.com. [ ]

Play Magazine for November just ran an article about girls in the gaming industry by Lesley Smith.

Yours truly was one of a few girls interviewed (which I am so thankful for!) BCL also got a small mention (and Mio & Mio Amakura are mentioned in the article).

The article isn't about survival horror, but gaming in general, still worth a read though! [ ]
