3. What is the Fatal Frame 4 about?
The game is about a kidnapping of 5 girls that occurred 10 years ago on Rougetsu Island. As a result, all 5 kidnapped girls lost their memories. Present day, two of the girls have died under bizzare circumstances. Two of the others (Misaki & Madoka) have gone to the island. Ruka Minazuki (the final girl) herself goes after them, followed by detective Choushiro (at the request of Ruka's mother to bring the girls back.).

Yes they are involved with the creation of the game. Producer and Co-director respectively.
7. I heard Grasshopper Manufacture is working on the game? Is Suda51 involved?
Yes. The company is working on/developing most of the game. Suda51 is onboard as a co-director and mentioned in an interview he helped write the storyline for the game.
8. What is the Game's themesong?
Amano Tsukiko is providing two theme songs for this game. The image song or theme song is called Zero no Chouritsu. One of the endings of the game uses her song NOISE. It is also known that Masafumi Takada (Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles & No More Heroes) from Grasshopper Manufacturer is writing the music for the game.
9. When does FFIV take place?
It takes place sometime in the 1980s (full translation of exactly when not available ATM).
10. Do I have to play previous FF games to understand this one?
No. This game is a complete break from previously established storylines in the series. While creators have promised small inserts for loyal fans...you do not have to have played or have previous knowledge of the other games to play this one.
11. How many chapters?
There is a Prologue, 11 chapters, and a 'chapter end'.
12. Do I get to choose my character?
Fatal Frame IV plays a lot like Fatal Frame III, certain characters are played in certain chapters to progress the story. So You will play as all of them at one point.
13. Save Points?
The large yellow lanterns are save points in the game. Additionally, you can save at any time in the menu.
Japanese Gameplay
1. Can I play the Japanese version of the game on my Wii?
Unless your Wii is Japanese (aka, you did not buy it in the US or in Europe), or you have modded your Wii, you will not be able to play the game.
2. Can you tell me how to mod my Wii?
No. This site does not endorse nor aid in helping people to ILLEGALLY modify their consoles.
3. Will I be able to understand/get through the game without knowing Japanese?
Fatal Frame IV is a text heavy game, so its not very 'friendly' when it comes to playing the game in a language you can't read...BUT, it is possible to do. (Especially if you are familiar with the Fatal Frame series! You can also always ask for help in the forums. :) )
4. I heard there are glitches in the game?
Yes, there are three of them, they are avoidable. (Information on how to avoid them coming soon!)
5. Are there English subtitles?
No. The Japanese version is completely in Japanese with Japanese text & voices.
Characters
9. Who is the main character?
The main character is Ruka Minazuki. (The other three playable characters are Misaki Aso(u), Madoka Tsukimori, & Choushiro Kirishima.)
10. Is the girl Mio?
No. She is an entirely new character to the series.
11. Is the girl's name Yoru Tachibana?
This name comes from several fake scans that were passed around the internet. It's not her name.
12. Do you think she could be (character name here) or related to (character name here?)
Ruka Minazuki is an entirely new character. She is not related to any previous game character. Misaki Aso(u) IS however a descendant of Dr. Kunihiko Aso(u), creator of the Camera Obscura.
13. Who is the kimono woman wearing the mask?
She is the main protagonist of the game. Check the spoilers FAQ for more information.
Console Related Questions
14. Is the game really coming out on the Wii? Or is that a rumor? Where's the proof?
Yes. It is really coming out for the Wii.

There's a picture of Kikuchi-san with the head of Tecmo and a third man with white hair. The man with white hair is Makoto Osamu Hatano, Nintendo's Chief Exectuive officier. Is that official enough for you?
15. Is the game a Wii exclusive?
Yes. It appears that it is.
16. Do you know if they might port it to the PS3 or Xbox360?
At this time, no announcement has been made concerning a port to another console. They probably will not given the contract with wii.
17. How DARE you allow Fatal Frame IV to be released on the Wii! It should be on the PS3-
Okay, I have been getting a handful of disgruntled mail from fans blaming ME for FFIV being on the Wii. AGAIN.

- I do not personally know Keisuke Kikuchi or Makoto Shibata, nor do I have 'influence' over them.
- FOR THE RECORD, I will buy the game (and multiple versions if applicable) on whatever console system it comes out on. Period.
Please stop sending emails like this, I've gotten several of them (at least 5 or 6) already. I know fans are angry, but myself nor this site had any choice on the decision of what console Fatal Frame IV would be released on. I still plan on reporting the full game and everything related to it (because this IS a fansite). So please stop sending the hate mail here.
18. Do you think they'll re-release the first three games to the Wii?
While the first three games were recently re-released in Japan (for under $20) as part of a reprint of the Playstation: the best PS2 versions, there has been no news for a reprint/re-release for the US or European territories at this time for any console system.
19. I heard somewhere Nintendo bought the series?
Nintendo has the distribution and advertising rights for the fourth game. IGN is reporting that there is a 'rumor' floating around that Nintendo may have bought the series...but they are the ONLY site that I have encountered that is reporting this rumor. For the moment, there is NO information (nor any reason to believe) that Nintendo owns the exclusive rights to the series.
